On Wednesday, the children got to meet their hometown pope.
In a faraway shot, Pope Leo XIV is seen standing next to the students who were dressed in their conclave costumes.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy students and Cardinal Blase Cupich met with Pope Leo XIV.
They met in St. Peter’s Square as Leo addressed the general audience.
Video shows the group afterwards making their way through St. Peter’s Square.
ABC7 was told Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich was there for the meeting.
