3-Vehicle Crash Closes Lanes Of Golf, Greenwood On Sunday Afternoon

A three-vehicle crash shut down all lanes of Golf Road and the southbound lanes of Greenwood Avenue for about 90 minutes on Sunday (Feb. 22). 

Deputy Niles Police Chief Tom Fragassi said a 78-year-old driver attempted to turn right from southbound Greenwood onto westbound Golf when their vehicle collided with another vehicle. The vehicle driven by the 78-year-old then continued and struck another vehicle in the intersection. 

Fragassi said one person was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with minor injuries. 

Niles District Fire Chief Evan Schachtel said there were no entrapments involved in the crash. 

The intersection was reopened to traffic at 3:14 p.m. Sunday.
