School’s back in session starting Thursday, Sept. 10, and it’s time to hit the stores to buy some school supplies. Whether it’s your child’s first time at school, or hitting their senior year, school supplies are the perfect way to show one’s personality.
Here are some stores you can go to buy school supplies in western Queens.
Morning Glory is the one-stop shop for all things kawaii. Whether you’re a fan of Sanrio, Pokemon, or just cute stuff in general, Morning Glory has a wide assortment of stationery for any fan. They have notebooks, pens, sharpeners, and planners galore, everything necessary to be the coolest kid back in school.
Morning Glory is located at 40-15 Broadway in Astoria. Their hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Known for their wide assortment of trinkets, did you know that Newtown HQ also has a plethora of stationery, made by small business owners and creators? Guests can purchase notebooks, pens, pencils, washi tape, stamps, crayons and markers, all with different characters and prints. They even have an online store, where one can look through the assortment of stationery Newtown HQ has to offer.
Newtown HQ is located at 36-12 34th Ave. in Astoria. They are open daily from noon to 7 p.m.
Lockwood Shop, which recently opened their flagship store this past April, is well known for their quirky gifts and style, but also sells stationery for those in need of back-to-school supplies. Looking for the perfect notebook? Lockwood Shop has Leuchtturm1917 notebooks for sale. Want to represent New York City? They even have mini notebooks stylized in a vintage fashion.

Target is the perfect place to find school supplies at a cheap price. They have crayons for 25 cents; 12 count colored pencils for 50 cents; 2 prong plastic folders for 50 cents; glue sticks for 25 cents; 35 cent spiral notebooks; and $1.99 number two pencils. If your child is feeling unique, there are plenty of character stationery to choose from, ranging from Sanrio, Spongebob Squarepants, Peanuts, anime, and sports teams.

They have the classic, composition notebook and binders, as well as a wide variety of assorted designs for those wanting their personality to shine. They even have a section dedicated to teachers, who are looking to decorate their classroom in their own special, unique way.
