2 critically injured after vehicle crashes into Trail Creek in Michigan City


MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WGN) — Two adults are in critical condition after a vehicle drove into Trail Creek late Saturday afternoon.

Officers from the Michigan City Police Department’s Uniform Patrol Shift 2 responded to the area of 100 Water Street around 5:30 p.m. after the LaPorte County Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting the incident.

Both individuals were pulled from the submerged vehicle and taken to Franciscan Hospital for treatment. They were later transferred to a Chicago-area hospital for more advanced medical care and remain in critical condition.

The department’s Investigative Division has taken over the case. Multiple first responders from several agencies assisted at the scene.
