Niles police closed Jonquil Terrace between Oketo and Osceola avenues Monday afternoon after a fallen tree brought down a power line, leaving live wires exposed across the roadway.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at 12:51 p.m., according to Niles Deputy Fire Chief Rich Scipione. First responders remained on the scene for several hours before handing operations over to ComEd.
The incident occurred as fast-moving storms with high winds swept through Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. A ComEd outage map showed 4,190 power outages late Monday afternoon.
