A stand-up comic from small-town Illinois has become a big name on social media.
32-year-old Erik Scott has amassed a huge online following.
With hundreds of thousands of views, and more than a million and a half likes, his social media boomed partially because of a style equal parts irreverent and innocent.
The University of Illinois graduate majored in cinema studies, and then he pursued stand-up in the capital of American comedy: Chicago.
His online acting and on-stage presence brings the audience with him right up to the ledge, with his Midwestern manners and leading man looks.
Scott let WGN’s Mike Lowe tag along as he got ready for a recent headlining spot at Zanie’s in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood.
