A judge denied bond today for reality TV personality Sidney Favors, aka Sidney Starr, during a hearing in Atlanta’s Superior Court.
Favors, 37, is charged with molesting a teenage boy in a hotel in Hapeville, Georgia, on August 2.
Favors appeared distraught in court after spending three weeks in a special unit for “vulnerable” LGBTQ+ inmates at Atlanta’s infamous Fulton County Jail.
The boy’s mother asked the judge to deny bond for the social media influencer. During a victim’s impact statement, the mother said her son has been “traumatized” by Favors.
“Since this happened, he has had emotional and psychological problems that is profound,” she said, reading off her cell phone screen. The mom said her son has had intensive therapy at an age when he should feel safe and protected.
Favors stared at the boy’s mother as she spoke. At one point Favors looked down and appeared to cry.
The Love & Hip-Hop supporting cast member told police that the boy said he was 18 and that sexual contact was “consensual”.
The judge previously appointed an attorney for Favors, who is indigent.
