Officials: At least six families displaced by massive fire near Arlington Heights

CHICAGO — Six families are displaced after a large fire broke out at an apartment building near Arlington Heights.

Crew responded to the 2300 block of West Nichols Road in unincorporated Cook County. Flames could be seen shooting out of the roof of the multi-unit building.

At least half a dozen fire and EMS response vehicles were visible at the scene. The American Red Cross is also there.

Arlington Heights Mayor Thomas Hayes said he has not heard of any injuries.

No further details were immediately available about the circumstances surrounding the fire or the cause.
