The NWSL is back! And the reigning champion Orlando Pride are ready to kick off their title defense tonight.

The Pride play in one of two regular-season openers Friday night, hosting the newly renamed Chicago Stars FC. Orlando brings back its one-two attacking punch that broke league records en route to its first NWSL championship in 2024. Barbra Banda led the league last season with 17 goals, while Brazilian legend Marta came in fourth with 11. The Pride did lose one of their key playmakers in Adriana.

Formerly the Red Stars, Chicago is anchored by a pair of USWNT greats in goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher and striker Mallory Swanson, though she announced she will miss tonight’s match for personal reasons. They do boast a rising star in 17-year-old Micayla Johnson and an international sensation in Brazilian forward Ludmila.
